It is time to fail the Brady Campaign Report Card.
One of the most simplistic and inane canards cast by the Bradys (and they seem to be the experts in this narrow field) is their annual report card concerning gun control laws in each state. Every year Sarah Brady and associated intellectual larceners list gun control laws they like, skew the scoring to put political pressure on target states, then send these scores to their acolytes in order to shame voters in different districts.
Yet there is zero correlation between their scores and crime.
Ponder that point before examining the evidence below. The Bradys list laws they like, then when you view states with most of those laws, you see no association between those laws and a lower chances of being harmed by a thug. Zero. Zip. Nada, Nope. Nyet. The fact that they perennially repeat this perjury shows that it is still of service to some simpleton somewhere.
Sorry. Times up. Let’s flunk this bit of bunk.
The point behind gun control is to get people to not misuse guns. Guns are used for a lot of different crime, but the best category (as tracked by the FBI and as reported below from their online database) is for violent crime. If Sarah’s gun control gambit did anything, one would see states on the far right of the chart having dramatically lower rates of murder, rape, armed robbery and such. Yet as you see, it makes no difference (click the chart to view a larger image).
(Oddly, Sarah fails to include a score for the District of Columbia, likely because they traditionally have the most violent crime in the country and the strictest gun control laws. So we made the assumption that Sarah would grant D.C. a score of 100.)
If we get a bit more specific and focus on the most critical of crimes – homicides – we see the same situation, namely no correlation between Brady’s prescriptions and a cure for violence.
Nor for just firearm homicides (these homicide rates are from the CDC since the FBI does not break-out means of homicides).
Sarah, dear … drop it. Your deceptions in general, and this tired old tale in particular must stop. Continued publication of your report cards will only cause you to be expelled … from civilized society.
